First look at Avengers: Age of Ultron villain Ultron

Thanks to the team over at Entertainment Weekly we've all had the chance to get our first look at the upcoming villain of next year's Avengers: Age of Ultron. The titular bad guy Ultron can be seen on the front cover of this month's Entertainment Weekly, he is however partially obscured by Robert Downey JR's Tony Stark/Iron Man and Chris Evan's Captain America. Looking at the design of the character, it seems that the decision has been made to keep it very similar to it's comic counterpart. Take a look at the full cover, which also shows Ultron's own legion of drones to support him in battle. Keep reading for more on the plot of Avengers: Age of Ultron, be warned though, there may be spoilers ahead!

In the post at Entertainment Weekly we get something of an overview of the plot that kicks off Avengers: Age of Ultron. With the reveal that as previously speculated, Tony Stark is in fact the creator of Ultron, having designed the self-aware, self-teaching, artificial intelligence to determine any threats and directly deal with them utilising Stark's legion of drones. The creation of Ultron is said to span from Tony Stark's desire to not wear the Iron Man suit again and attempting to give the Avengers a chance to take a breather from saving the world, with only themselves on the forefront since the disbanding of SHIELD in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Of course, like all movie AI's Ultron realises that to save mankind, he must destroy it. Talking about Ultron, Joss Whedon the movie's director states "Ultron sees the big picture and he goes, 'Okay, we need radical change, which will be violent and appalling, in order to make everything better', he's not just going 'muahaha, soon I'll rule'!" Whedon finishes by defining the characters motive; "He wants to save us".

It certainly sounds like the Avengers will well and truly be up against it in Age of Ultron. It'll be really interesting to see how new characters such as Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and The Vision feed into the greater story. Especially in respect to The Vision who is himself an android character and is set to be played by Paul Bettany in the movie. When you consider that Paul Bettany has been a marvel regular as the voice of JARVIS, you do wonder if Tony Stark has created The Vision as well as Ultron in the movie and how that might impact on Ultron's inevitable downfall?

We're excited for Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron and can't wait to see it when it hits cinemas in the UK on April 24th 2015 and in the US on May 1st. What do you think to the look of Ultron and the potential plot overview of the movie?
