Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain to have an 80's camera filter?
Hideo Kojima, creator and director of the Metal Gear Solid franchise has revealed that he had strong intentions to apply a grainy 80's style visual filter. Having taken inspiration from the movie Rush which was shot with a 70's aesthetic. With 1984 being the time setting for this new Metal Gear Solid game it seems like Kojima felt the desire to attempt a similar action with the title.
Whilst this certainly would of been an interesting and unusual visual affect to apply to a game, Kojima and his team found that when applying the affect full screen to the title it required far too much power and unfortunately slowed down the system too much to be practical.
Would you have liked to see this "80's filter" applied to the new MGS games? Personally I think this could have been awesome though possibly detract from the no doubt excellent next gen visuals that the game is currently promising.
The prequel to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, titled Ground Zeroes is set to release very soon on PS3, PS4, Xbox360 and Xboxone this March 20th.
